Best budget smartphones with big screen

2022-10-20

The first touchscreen smartphones had a tiny display. No one at the time thought that the screen had to be bigger. The reason was that computers or tablets were used for some tasks. Nowadays even the cheapest smart phone usually substitutes for a variety of other devices.

In this regard, users want a display diagonal of at least 6 inches in order to easily watch movies. At the same time they don't want to overpay. That is why in this selection, we will take a look at the inexpensive smartphones with large screen that collect positive reviews on the global web.

More advanced models

Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro

  • Display: 6.6 inches, IPS, 2400 x 1080, 90Hz
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 810
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64 or 6/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 50+8 / 16MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 17,480 rubles

POCO M4 Pro is a novelty from Xiaomi, which can offer an impressive set of features for an affordable price. What this smartphone does not have: a fast processor with support for 5G networks, FHD + screen with refresh rate of 90 Hz, 50-megapixel main camera, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, high capacity battery and fast charging 33W.

A variety of "eyes" on the back of the POCO M4 Pro a lot, but there are only two lenses: the main (Samsung JN1) with 50 MP resolution and ultra-wide-angle 8 MP (Sony IMX355). The viewing angle of one of the sensors is 119 degrees, which is more than enough for panoramas. There is phase autofocus, Bokeh mode and "Pro". Video recording unpleasantly surprised: there is not even 4K, the maximum for this camera is 1080p 60fps. The front module on 16 MP also knows how to shoot in FHD, but with a rate of already 30 frames.

The whole line of "POCO" has always been remembered from the good side, if we talk about performance. Powered by the SoC Dimensity 810 from MTK. The chipset has plenty of power to run demanding games (at least on medium-low settings) and other applications, and the 5000 mAh battery allows for 1.5-2 days of active use without recharging.

Advantages:

  • Excellent price/performance ratio.
  • Quality IPS display with 90Hz support.
  • Presence of IR port, NFC, 5G.
  • Stereo sound.
  • Good battery life + fast charging.

Disadvantages:

  • Not the most stable fingerprint scanner.
  • Video and photo quality at night.

OUKITEL K9 Pro

  • Display: 6.95", IPS, 1640 x 720, 60Hz
  • Processor: MediaTek Helio P22
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 13+5+2+0.8 / 8 MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 15 990 rubles

The second position in the ranking is located OUKITEL K9 Pro. This is quite a compromise option for those who just need a huge display. The manufacturer staked on the appearance of the smartphone and the screen, the diagonal of which hardly reaches 7 inches. Other parameters of the model are on an acceptable level, but do not excite.

Rear camera in the K9 Pro is a system of 4 sensors: the main 13 MP, wide-angle with a resolution of 5 MP, 2-megapixel module for macro and depth sensor. Reasoning technically, it has all the modern features for a smartphone in this price category. However, the quality of photos can be puzzling, especially if you shoot in low light conditions.

As far as performance is concerned, things are not the best. The 8-core Helio P22 from MediaTek in today's realities can "digest" only simple applications (social networking clients and the like). Playing demanding titles on K9 Pro will not work, the maximum is "three in a row" games. This is the price to pay for the largest IPS display in our selection.

Advantages:

  • Huge IPS screen.
  • Basic Quad camera.
  • Works on the latest version of Android 11.
  • Long battery life.

Disadvantages:

  • Not suitable for gaming.
  • No NFC module.

HUAWEI P Smart 2021

  • Display: 6.67 inches, IPS, 2400 x 1080, 60Hz
  • Processor: HiSilicon Kirin 710A
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 48+8+2+2 / 8MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 15,780 rubles

This smartphone is one of the representatives of the "P Smart" line, which is a versatile mid-budget models. HUAWEI equips them with a well-balanced stuffing without obvious "distortions". P Smart 2021 got a high-capacity battery, a large display with a high-definition matrix, NFC support, Quad-camera and not only.

In terms of cameras, the manufacturer has rarely released smartphones, photo and video capabilities that would not meet the declared level. The 48MP main module has phase autofocus and digital stabilization, and works alongside an 8MP "wide" lens for macro and depth sensor. Considering the cost, the shooting quality of the rear camera is not bad, but the front sensor could have been installed better.

The performance of the 8-core SoC Kirin 710A is enough to use the smartphone freely, if you put aside all the "heavy" games like PUBG Mobile and others. However, if you are not bothered by the soapy graphics at low settings, you can run such titles comfortably as well.

Advantages:

  • Battery life + support HUAWEI SuperCharge 22.5W.
  • Clear and vivid picture thanks to FHD+ resolution IPS display.
  • Large capacity of internal memory.
  • With NFC module.
  • There are Google services.

Disadvantages:

  • Photo quality on the front module.

TCL 20 SE

  • Display: 6.82", IPS, 1640 x 720, 60Hz
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 460
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64 or 4/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 48+5+2+2 / 13MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 14,490 rubles

TCL 20 SE is a smartphone with one of the biggest screens. IPS-matrix diagonal 6.82 inches with HD + resolution shows a fairly bright picture with excellent color reproduction. It's worth noting that there are two versions of the device: with 4/64GB or 4/128GB of storage. If you do not care so much about cameras, you can save 1-2 thousand rubles and take the first with a 16-megapixel main camera (instead of 48 MP) and a slightly deteriorated front-facing.

Photo and video capabilities of the gadget are represented by four lenses. The main sensor with a resolution of 48 MP works in a system with a 5 MP wide-angle module (angle of view - 115 degrees), depth sensor and macro. Daytime images on the main lens is not bad, but night shooting is expected to leave much to be desired. There is support for HDR, PDAF.

The smartphone runs on the entry-level Snapdragon 460 single-crystal system from Qualcomm. The chipset was introduced back in 2020, but to this day remains relevant if we are talking about budget devices. It is unlikely to be able to play games, but with other tasks there will be no problems. There is nothing wrong with the battery life: Li-Pol battery of 5000 mAh will suffice for a couple of days of use. Fast charging is not provided, but the factory adapter is powerful enough (18W).

Advantages:

  • Internal storage capacity.
  • Battery life.
  • NFC support.
  • Picture quality from the main sensor.

Disadvantages:

  • "Hardware" not for gaming.

TECNO Pova 2

  • Display: 6.95", IPS, 2460 x 1080, 60Hz
  • Processor: MediaTek Helio G85
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64 or 4/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 48+2+2+0.8 / 8 MP
  • Battery: 7000 mAh

Price: from 13,690 rubles

A truly uncompromising smartphone option with a large display - TECNO Pova 2. The model features an almost 7-inch IPS screen with FHD+ resolution and a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz. And another feature of the device was the 7000 mAh battery, which supports 18W reverse and fast charging.

Even the cameras on paper can be impressive: 4 sensors, 48MP main module, shooting 2K 30fps video. The other 3 lenses (2 megapixel macro and depth sensors) are too weak and do only auxiliary work. There is no stabilization, but there is slow motion shooting 240fps, timelapse, night mode. Phase autofocus works clearly, and in general, the main camera can pleasantly surprise.

Pova 2 runs Android 11 and the Helio G85 platform. Judging by the architecture of the chipset and its results in benchmarks, it is a good budget level. In "normal" use (calls, messengers, work with documents, etc.) the device will feel brisk, and if you want to play something popular, graphics settings will have to be reduced to a minimum.

Advantages:

  • Best battery life: up to 15 hours of continuous gameplay.
  • It has NFC.
  • Separate memory card tray.
  • Huge FHD+ screen.
  • not bad performance for its level.

Disadvantages:

  • Sound quality from speaker + low volume.

vivo Y31

  • Display: 6.58", IPS, 2408 x 1080, 60Hz
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 662
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64 or 4/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 48+2+2 / 8 MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 12,990 rubles

If you are not struggling for extra fractions of inches in the display, and the 6.58 is big for you, then a profitable purchase can become vivo Y31 - what is called "top for its money". And indeed, there is: a fast mid-level processor, plenty of memory, a high-capacity battery, FHD+ display and even NFC. Perhaps even the Chinese "third echelon" have nothing that looks clearly more solid for such a price.

Cameras here also turned out to be interesting. The 48-megapixel main sensor supports slow motion at 120fps, DIS (digital photo stabilization) and UIS (ultra stable video), portrait and night mode, phase autofocus. Two additional lenses - depth sensor and macro. You can shoot time lapses, panoramas, create live photos and not only.

As for power and smooth operation vivo Y31 does not grab stars from the sky, but it does not fall in the mud. The system works exactly as much as the manufacturer asks for the device. An 8-core Snapdragon 662 coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4X standard RAM will be enough even for games at minimum graphics settings. However, for a gamer, the platform is hardly suitable: It is too prone to trotling.

Advantages:

  • A separate memory card slot (2 SIM + microSD can be installed simultaneously).
  • Balanced price/performance ratio.
  • Has NFC module.
  • Nice and versatile main camera.
  • The screen: very high pixel density (401 ppi), IPS matrix.
  • Built-in call recording option.

Disadvantages:

  • Night shooting.

HTC Wildfire E2 Plus

  • Display: 6.82 inches, IPS, 1640 x 720, 90Hz
  • Processor: Unisoc Tiger T610
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 13+5+2+2 / 8MP
  • Battery: 4600 mAh

Price: from 12,670 rubles

It's been several years since HTC's activity has been visible in the mobile market. Nevertheless, at the end of 2021, the Wildfire E2 Plus went on sale from the Taiwanese manufacturer. In all aspects, the device has turned out to be "understated". There is nothing incredible in it, as well as obvious weaknesses, if we do not take into account the lack of NFC-module.

Cameras in the Wildfire E2 Plus does not create presence effect, but still on photo and video are at the ultra-budget level. The device is equipped with a main 13-megapixel sensor, an ultra-wide-angle with 5 MP resolution, a macro lens and a depth sensor. The camera is not particularly feature-rich, but overall this will be enough to meet basic needs.

The performance of the device is responsible for the entry-level 8-core Unisoc Tiger T610 processor. Not a gaming solution, but in everyday use "brakes" should not be. In addition, the Wildfire E2 Plus screen supports a frame rate of 90 Hz, which increases the smoothness of scrolling. The battery capacity is slightly higher than the "standard" 4000 mAh, which is definitely enough for 1-1.5 days.

Advantages:

  • Big IPS display with 90 Hz mode.
  • Long battery life.
  • Almost pure Android 11 with minimal changes.
  • USB Type-C charging connector.

Disadvantages:

  • No NFC.

Infinix HOT 11S

  • Display: 6.78 inches, IPS, 2460 x 1080, 90Hz
  • Processor: MediaTek Helio G88
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64 or 6/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 50 + 2 + 0.08 / 8 MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 12,290 rubles

And the most affordable smartphone in this subcategory is the Infinix HOT 11S. The model turned out to be really "hot" thanks to a very affordable price tag for such a stuffing. The main features of the novelty was the screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a budget processor of the gaming line, a large memory reserve.

On the back cover is a triple camera with a main module of 50 MP. It supports phase autofocus and 10x digital zoom. There is no stabilization of any kind, but there is a mode for night shooting "Super Night". Pictures with this feature turns out pretty good, but too unnatural. During the day the situation is much better. The remaining 2 lenses - the depth sensor and the "AI Lens", almost no role.

"Heart" HOT 11S is a fresh single-crystal system Helio G88 from MediaTek. The chipset is pitched by the manufacturer as gaming, even support for HyperEngine 2.0 and DAR-LINK Game Boost technologies is claimed. However, if we take into account popular and demanding to resources tiles, they will run only on medium-low settings. Fast charging as it is, but as it is not: factory charger with 18W charges the device from 0 to 100% in almost 2 hours.

Advantages:

  • Triple Tray: 2 nano-SIM and microSD are inserted simultaneously.
  • Battery life.
  • NFC support.
  • Great stereo sound.
  • Has notification LED indication.
  • High resolution 90Hz screen.

Disadvantages:

  • No detected.

The most affordable smartphones

Motorola Moto G20

  • Display: 6.5 inches, IPS, 1600 x 720, 90Hz
  • Processor: Unisoc Tiger T700
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 4/64 or 4/128GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 48+8+2+2 / 13MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: from 11,000 rubles

In case the budget is severely limited, you can still count on decent devices with a large screen diagonal. One such is the freshly made model Moto G20 from Motorola. Considering the cost of 11 thousand rubles, IPS-display with refresh rate of 90 Hz, Quad-camera, NFC and high-capacity battery - very decent.

The main sensor of the rear camera has a resolution of 48 MP. And although it uses Pixel Binning, and the "output" is the same 12 MP, it's still better than the 13/16-megapixel cameras in other budget-level models. For panoramas, there is an 8 MP "shirik", which is still good for daytime work. Two additional modules - a lens for macro and sharpness sensor. In addition, there is digital stabilization, timelapse, slow motion shooting.

The smartphone is equipped with "entry-level" hardware, but it is still a head above that of similar devices from this price segment. Unisoc's 8-core Tiger T700 SoC with 4GB of RAM is capable of running even the heaviest games at certain graphics settings. There are no issues with battery life either. There is no fast charging, although that would probably be too "fat" already.

Advantages:

  • IP52 water and dust protection.
  • The clarity and quality of pictures from the main camera.
  • Powered by pure Android 11 (minor changes).
  • Price/performance ratio.
  • Large storage capacity.
  • Display with 90Hz frame rate.

Disadvantages:

  • Not found.

Infinix Hot 10 Play G25

  • Display: 6.82", IPS, 1640 x 720, 60Hz
  • Processor: MediaTek Helio G25
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 2/32GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 13 + 0.08 / 8 MP
  • Battery: 6000 mAh

Price: from 7,990 rubles

We are getting closer and closer to ultra-budget smartphones and the most interesting of them is the Infinix HOT 10 Play. There are 2 versions of the device depending on the chipset: Helio G35 and Helio G25. The first will be more productive also due to increased memory (4/64 GB), but you will have to pay a couple of thousand more for it.

Although the manufacturer claims a dual rear camera, only one of them really functions: a 13 MP sensor. The second sensor is marked as "AI Lens", which is responsible for background blur in portrait mode. There is autofocus, HDR and Quad LED flash. The 8 MP front lens is located in the drop-shaped notch and will not be able to please with good pictures: photos often turn out soapy.

High level of performance from such a processor as the Helio G25, you should not expect. The graphics core here is rather weak and will only be suitable for undemanding 3D games and applications. And the full battery charge is enough for about 1.5-2 days of active use.

Advantages:

  • Separate memory card slot.
  • Bright and fresh appearance.
  • Excellent battery life.
  • Loud speaker.

Disadvantages:

  • No NFC.

Samsung Galaxy A03 Core

  • Display: 6.5", TN, 1600 x 720, 60Hz
  • Processor: Unisoc SC9863A
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 2/32GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 8 / 5MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

Price: From 7,400 rubles

And if you are used to trusting only well-known manufacturers, you can look closely at the Galaxy A03 Core, which can be purchased for almost the same money as the previous model from Infinix. However, you will have to make tangible sacrifices in terms of features: processor, camera and even in some sense battery.

The device has received an extremely simple camera. On the rear of the body there is a single 8-megapixel sensor, and the front 5 MP lens is located in a V-shaped notch under the speaker. There's no particular abundance of features here, so this whole picture looks pretty weak overall. Despite the cost, in terms of photo and video capabilities there are models more interesting.

No surprises and regarding performance. The device is equipped with an 8-core Unisoc SC9863A processor, which was announced back in 2018 and was already positioned as an entry-level chipset back then. And while it's not a power-efficient SoC, the 5000 mAh battery will easily power the smartphone for more than a day. Overall, the model will suit undemanding users (such as children).

Advantages:

  • Ergonomic design.
  • Up-to-date version of Android 11.
  • Battery charge lasts long.
  • Big TN display with minimal response time.

Disadvantages:

  • Weak processor.

BQ 6631G Surf

  • Display: 6.53 inch, IPS, 1560 x 720, 60Hz
  • Processor: Spreadtrum SC7731E
  • Memory (RAM / built-in): 2/16GB
  • Cameras (primary / front): 8+0.3 / 2 MP
  • Battery: 3000 mAh

Price: from 5,770 rubles

BQ 6631G Surf is the most affordable smartphone with a large screen in our selection. This model from the Russian manufacturer offers us a dual camera, a bright IPS display with HD+ resolution and a stylish design that gives the impression of a more expensive device.

For photos and videos, the smartphone has a main 8 MP sensor and a depth sensor that improves the overall quality of pictures through AI algorithms. Of course, no artificial intelligence will make the pictures qualitative, if the optics is really weak, so even in good light it is rarely possible to get a clear picture. The same is the case with the front module.

The processor used is a 4-core Spreadtrum SC7731E. The performance it can give is enough except for watching movies, internet surfing and similar tasks. The memory is small though, but the built-in storage is expandable by a further 128GB with a memory card.

Dignities:

  • Low price.
  • Spectacular modern design.
  • IPS matrix with good viewing angles.
  • Dual main camera.

Disadvantages:

  • No 4G support.
  • Battery life.
  • <12
